Samir Joubran was born in Nazareth in the Galilee into a family with a rich tradition in music. Samir's father Hatem is a prominent Oud-maker in the Arab world, and his mother is a former Muashahat choir singer. Samir was first introduced to the Oud at the age of five by his father, and later entered in the Music Institue of Nazareth at the age of nine. In 1995, Samir graduated from Muhammed Abudl Wahhab Conservatoire in Cairo, a highly respected musical instituition in the Arab world, specializing in Oud.
